My dome shows blend Unreal Engine, custom AI tools, and years of visual storytelling into 360° experiences designed for planetariums and immersive venues. Each show - from the meditative journey of Chakra Journey to the mythic initiation of Cosmic Humanity - is crafted to transport audiences beyond the ordinary.

Immersive Environments

360 Hextile

I've developed my own custom AI rendering software that generates 360° content at resolutions higher than anything commercially available. This proprietary system allows me to create immersive environments with unprecedented artistic detail and visual fidelity. The technology produces seamless spherical imagery optimized for dome projection.

Unreal Engine-to-Dome Pipeline

I use Unreal Engine for its high-speed rendering capabilities and leverage an extensive library of 3D assets to kitbash and create new worlds. My custom dome camera system captures scenes in fisheye format, ready for planetarium projection and fulldome distribution. This pipeline enables rapid iteration from concept to final 4K dome master.

Microdose VR is an immersive virtual reality experience that I co-invented and architected collaborating with renowned artists Android Jones and Scott Sporeganic. I architected the software systems and built them in Unreal Engine, blending psychedelic art, music, and gameplay to create a synesthetic journey. This artistically-driven software transcends traditional gaming paradigms, offering a creative canvas where you can paint with sound and light in a responsive, evolving environment designed for both artistic expression, music visuals and meditative exploration.

Visual Artist & Project Director

Creator of Studio Phong. Anson works remotely from the mountains of BC, Canada, blending CG animation with sacred geometry to craft transformative 360° experiences for domes and VR environments. His work translates Eastern philosophies and sacred symbols into mathematical precision through code and equations, with a practice deeply informed by meditation and nature.

With years of experience creating custom code and pioneering live performance software with Microdose VR, Phong combines 3D graphics, generative AI, and art direction, continuously refining his techniques in the evolving 360° medium.

Lezlie Sunbow

Audio Director

Multi-instrumentalist and producer who blends voice artistry with AI tools. At Studio Sunbow, Lezlie records vocal samples that become the foundation for AI voice models, creating characters with distinct personalities and emotional ranges. She works back and forth between her own performances and AI assistance, finding a balance that keeps the human touch while expanding what's possible.

Using Ableton Live and sound design techniques, she builds audio environments that complement the visuals in dome spaces, focusing on how sound moves through three-dimensional spaces to enhance the immersive experience for surround sound systems.

My Roots

Origin Story

These early career projects laid the foundation for Phong's journey into animation, storytelling, and immersive media. Each experience contributed to developing the unique creative vision that would later define Studio Phong.

2002

White America

Phong's very first animation project was co-directed with Stephen Marshall for the hip hop artist Eminem. Created with his friends on a shoestring budget using the website animation tool Macromedia Flash, this piece helped develop his distinctive visual style and storytelling approach. The project's controversial nature and eventual MTV ban demonstrated the power of visual narrative to challenge societal norms.

2004

Mosh

This music video was the second one Phong was commissioned to create for Eminem. Premiering on October 26, 2004, just a week before the U.S. presidential election, the video immediately topped MTV's TRL (Total Request Live) charts upon its release. The project's rapid rise to prominence demonstrated how powerful visuals could amplify a message of civic engagement.

2008

Illuminated

A pivotal project that marked Phong's transition into more expansive storytelling. Working alongside producer Josh Shore, Phong was deeply involved in writing the script and art directing the project. He pulled together a team of visionary artists to create an animation studio, making this transmedia "Dreamcatcher" project the springboard for his later work in immersive experiences and multi-dimensional narratives.

2016

Microdose VR

Co-invented with Android Jones and Scott Hedstrom, Microdose VR became a pioneering immersive experience that played Coachella's Antarctic Dome and the Smithsonian. Now used by VJs in domes worldwide, this project marked the transition from flat-screen animation to immersive 360° media, establishing the foundation for all future dome work.

2024

Chakra Journey

The first original Studio Phong dome show - a guided meditation through the seven chakras featuring original visuals and immersive soundscapes. Opening at Pyramids of Chi in Bali in 2026, this show represents the culmination of two decades of immersive media work and the beginning of a new chapter as a dome film studio.

Where It Begins

Visions find me. Images arrive anytime. On a walk. In dreams. Themes circle back until I pay attention. My process of visioning is to finely tune my sensory ratios so I can see what comes to me, remember it, and render it.

To come to life, my stories must be lived. There is no other way. Born from experience. The pain and the terror. The joy and ecstatic dance of energy surging forth embodied. A lifetime of creative escapades has become my vocabulary of symbols.
